Productivity Measurement and Analysis

A major effort to update state-level and national agricultural input, output and productivity measures for the United States is underway. Data on each of these aggregates, and their underlying components, are being developed for the period 1949-2002. Substantial effort to account for the changing heterogeneity of agricultural inputs and outputs is being made. Special attention is being paid to improving measures of the aggregate capital services used in U.S. agriculture and its implications for notions of procyclical growth.
