Maxwell Mkondiwa

Maxwell, a Malawian national, received his PhD in Applied Economics at the University of Minnesota in 2019. While pursuring his PhD he served as a graduate research assistant on a project funded by the McKnight Foundation titled “Appropriately Targeting and Scaling Crop Management Recommendations: A Case Study of Integrated Maize-Legume Systems in Southern Africa.”  His current research interests are in the spatial and temporal bio-economic analysis of agricultural research recommendations, identifying appropriate scales for such recommendations and quantification of agricultural research and innovation spillovers. Maxwell obtained a BSc in Agricultural Economics at University of Malawi, a MSc in Research Methods from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a MSc in Applied Economics from University of Minnesota. He previously taught agricultural statistics at Bunda College from 2011 to mid-2013 while also conducting development oriented research at the Center for Agricultural Research and Development- Bunda College.
